Temporary Crown and Bridge Instructions
- Avoid hot food/drink while numb (to not burn tissue)
- Avoid chewing while tongue is numb (to not bite tongue)
- Some soreness may be present from injection or work below the gums (warm salt water rinses and/or pain reliever should alleviate)
- Stay away from hard and chewy foods (to not break or loosen temporary)
- Take care when flossing around temporary. When done flossing let go of one side of the floss and pull out from between the teeth. Do not snap floss out when done, this can easily remove the temporary.
- If temporary comes off or breaks notify Dr. Blogin’s office. It is important to keep the tooth covered to prevent sensitivity, protect the gum tissues from injury, and keep the tooth in a stable position.
Helpful Hint: If you can align the crown on your tooth, use toothpaste, denture adhesive cream, or Vaseline to help hold the temporary crown in place, until you can get in to see the dentist for reapplication of the cement. [do not use superglue!]
