Home Bleaching Instructions
- Brush and floss teeth before bleaching
- Place small bead of gel into trays and insert trays into mouth
- Leave trays in place for 1/2 – 1 hour
- Rise mouth and trays after every bleaching session
- Bleach twice a day for optimal results, if this is tolerable
Sensitivity
You may experience slight sensitivity after a bleaching session which is normal.
To aid in relief of sensitivity:
- Rinse mouth after bleaching with warm water
- Use Sensodyne toothpaste while bleaching, or we may prescribe a concentrated fluoride paste if necessary
- Reduce number of sessions in a week (If bleaching twice daily, try once. If bleaching once daily, try once every other day)
Other Considerations
Occasionally, teeth have opaque white spots- these may become temporarily more noticeable during bleaching. Don’t worry, this will become much less apparent once you stop bleaching. The bleaching will also whiten the teeth to help this type of discoloration to blend in with the new color of your teeth.
Call office if sensitivity persists, or if you have any concerns/questions.
